I’m going to keep this one short so as not to overwhelm your inboxes.
I have a family member who dropped out of school at sixteen, as did I, which is why I tried to help this family member over and over again.
That family member is now approaching their 30th birthday and has not done one single thing to improve their situation. They have not gone back to school to get their GED. They refused Church based drug intervention. They got a job only when forced, but lost it. They do have a place of their own. They do not have car or even a bicycle. And basically have only the clothes on their backs.
It finally occurred to me that I was not helping them to get out of the situation they were in, but in fact, by giving them money, free rides, an occasional place to sleep, was enabling them stay in it.
I fully understand why Mariah SHOULD NOT give her sister any more money. Her sister has got to want out of the situation bad enough to do something on her own instead of just calling Mariah. If Mariah does respond by giving her more money, you can be sure that the following will happen:
Proverbs 26:11 As a dog returns to its vomit, so fools repeat their folly.
In which case, she’ll just call Mariah, again.
