Two For Two

First, there was George Zimmerman

And now there’s Betty Shelby.

Can the powers that be make it any clearer that there is NO justice in America for Blacks.

A Question About Old Nick

Rm_D18_GK_0058.RW2

A question or should I say questions regarding Old Nick from the movie, Room.

What if after she got out of the shed, people, who she thought she could trust, started telling her that her experience in the shed had all been in her mind and that Old Nick was really a friend? Continue reading

The Gay Night Club Shooting

omar-mateen-1

This morning, I was watching the news out of Florida before I left for Church.  And I couldn’t help but wonder, how do you get to the point in your life that you get up and go out saying, “Today, I’m going to  kill as many people as I can.”  Where does that mindset come from? Continue reading

Fear The Walking Dead

Given that I’m such an avid fan of The Walking Dead television show, I decided to check out AMC’s latest show, Fear the Walking Dead.

I must admit it started a little slow and was a bit predictable. But the action picked up somewhat in last Sunday’s show.

However, I’m a little miffed at the wife in the show. Don’t get me wrong, I know she’s no Carol yet, but she could easily win the Dumb Dora award, i.e. not listening to one of her student’s warnings, walking up to an obviously compromised principle, not making the kids pack while she was out looking for drugs for her son, and look at where she parked the car – at the end of the driveway. “Run for it kids. I have you covered with this crowbar.” “Yeah mom, right.”

So, Ok the show is just getting started but I’m not putting a lot of money on her making it to the end.
Now, on a serious note. The show did get me thinking about what might happen in a real-life crisis.

Case in point HIV/Aides. Our government really should have put some type of quarantine in place. But they didn’t and now HIV/Aides is in the general population. And you literally, take your life in your hands having sex.

Same with Ebola. The citizens of the United States weren’t informed about the Ebola Epidemic in Africa until well after it had killed tens of thousands and was in the general population there.

And Mind Readers. You think they’re just a myth don’t you?

And that brings me to this question, “Would you stay in your home and try and wait it out or would you pack your car and hit the road along with millions of others with no clear cut safe haven (government run, i.e, armed soldiers) waiting for you?

My next post, The Walking Dead and RICK!

Charleston, South Carolina Shooting

I was on my way to work this afternoon when I heard about the Church shootings in Charleston. And as usual, I was listening to the Doug Banks show when I heard.
There was one thing Doug said about the story that really hit home with me. He said that, “When you’re afraid to go to the House of The Lord, then we really do have some problems in this country.”

If there was one place in this country that we were taught to respect, it was God’s house, i.e, the Church.

Well Doug, I hate to break it to you, but some of us, probably a lot more than I know, are afraid to attend Church. I know I was for a long time.

Every Sunday, in Church, I was verbally harangued – during the Service – by the people stalking me. And it got ugly, real ugly. And a lot of my fellow parrishners stopped going, too, because they were afraid that something like what happened in Charleston would happen to them. And when some of them had the courage to speak up and tell me that, that’s when I stopped attending.
It’s sad to think that there are no more boundaries in this country anymore. That nothing is sacred. Not even the Church. We live in a time of pedophile priests, rapists who drag their victims into Church for privacy, and foul mouth stalkers, who get off defiling our holiest of holies.
The sad truth is that people are going ‘off the rails’ these days without anyone having to do anything to them. And in a time when cities and states are trying to cut their spending on mental health more and more people are in need of it.

Psalm 122 King James Version (KJV)

122 I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord.
2 Our feet shall stand within thy gates, O Jerusalem.
3 Jerusalem is builded as a city that is compact together:
4 Whither the tribes go up, the tribes of the Lord, unto the testimony of Israel, to give thanks unto the name of the Lord.
5 For there are set thrones of judgment, the thrones of the house of David.
6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.
7 Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces.
8 For my brethren and companions’ sakes, I will now say, Peace be within thee.
9 Because of the house of the Lord our God I will seek thy good.

Let us, the survivors, strive to put peace, and respect, back in God’s house.

Letting Your Emotions Out

The worst layman mental health advice I’ve ever heard goes like this, “You need to let your emotions out. If you keep them bottled in, eventually they’ll explode.”

That’s pure bull crap. It’s exactly the opposite. It’s when you let your emotions out that they tend to expand and then explode, usually very messily all over other people.

The Bible explains that we are to reign in our emotions, thoughts, and especially our tongue.

Proverbs 29:11 states, “Fools give full vent to their rage, but the wise bring calm in the end.”

If you’re going to advise someone to ‘let their emotions out,’ please make sure that you also advise them that it should absolutely be done in a controlled situation. Because even the most docile timid person is capable of doing anything – even the unthinkable – when the anger within is released.

And NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, try to goad someone into seeking help psychiatric help. They maybe holding on for dear life and there you are, you big ass hole, trying to push them over the edge. That, too, only makes things worst. Now, they don’t know who to trust.

The best thing you can do is LISTEN when they’re ready to speak and if you can’t do that, get the hell out of their way.
Now that I think about it:

No one ever says it’s OK to let out your disgust (an emotion) at the way someone looks, dresses, smells, or talks.

No one ever says it’s OK to let out our your fear (an emotion) in any given situation. Yes, go ahead and scream like a baby because you’re scared.

No one ever says it’s OK to let out your love (an emotion) for your neighbor’s husband or wife.

So why do we think it’s OK to let out ANGER?
