Want to hear a joke?

A Black man and a White are in the park.  The White man is holding a gun on the Black man.  The Cops roll up on the two and shoot the Black.  The White man asks, “Now can I have his wallet?”

How To Survive A Chicago Summer

Chicago police officers investigate a crime scene where 7-year-old Amari Brown was shot and killed in Chicago

If you’ve read my book STALKED! By Voices, you know that I made numerous attempts at getting the Maywood Police to help me rid myself of the individuals who were, and still are, actively stalking me.    That was to no avail, however.

And when I was smart enough to realize that The Maywood Police were not about to help me, I turned to lawyers, Luther Franklin Spence and Cochran, Montgomery & Cherry.   That also did not work.

So, then I turned to the Illinois State Police.  That led to the Illinois State Police coming in and trying to figure out what the hell the Police and Village were up to, which only led to several drug arrests and a reshuffling of Village responsibilities, but the stalkers remained.

Finally, I called the local chapter of the FBI.  The agent who answered my call, informed me that he couldn’t start a case for me until he heard from my local Police.  I told him what was happening or rather not happening there and he was quiet on the phone for a while and then he said, “Well, I still can’t do anything about the stalking, but I can give you some tips on staying alive until I hear from the local cops.

With summer in Chicago fast approaching, I’d like to share with you some of his advice.

First, don’t have regular set times when you come and go.  (This is one of the hardest to keep).  Vary your times and entrance points to your house or apartment.

When you’ve been out of your house for some hours, be very careful about re=entering the apartment.  Make sure you turn on some lights and make sure you are alone before you lock the door.    But never, never, never, never, enter the apartment and leave your door unlocked.

And if you have stalkers, like I do, make sure you clean your toothbrushes before you use them (it only takes one time to forget this rule and you’ll never forget it again.  The pain in your gut will feel like you’re being ripped apart).

Don’t leave half-filled bottles of wine or pop in your fridge and come home and drink it.  (Same thing as above or worse).

When you’re driving, stay aware of what cars are around you.  Don’t get overly distracted by the radio or who’s in the car with you.

Don’t pull up to close to the car in front of you.   Leave some space.  This will give you some room to maneuver.

Don’t pull up window to window with the car in the next lane or let them pull up window to window with you.   If the other car does pulls up window to window, either move forward a little or back a little (provided the car in back of you is not on your bumper).

Just before you reach your destination, double check your rear view mirror and make sure you’re not being followed.  If you think you are, circle the block and come back around.

Also, if you can, safely, call the person you’re visiting and let them know you are almost to their house, so they can put a light on outside.

Now, when you are out partying this summer in the clubs KEEP YOUR OPINIONS YOURSELF about other people’s clothes, hair, looks, boyfriends, or girlfriends.

Don’t try and hijack another person’s date, even if they’re willing to go with you.  Better to leave that to another time and place.

When you are leaving the Club, don’t stand around outside talking, laughing, and joking.   Get in your cars and LEAVE.   I can’t stress this one enough.

Now, the following is not from the FBI, but some common sense things I’ve learned over the years.

If you are caught in cross fire, don’t run, unless you’re being chased.  Instead, fall on the ground where you are.

It’s cooler in the dark.  Don’t have every light on in your apartment. You’re safer when people (on the outside) can’t tell where you are in the house or the apartment.

And be aware, that they will listen for the sound of the TV.  So, if you live in a high crime area and you want to watch TV, make yourself a pallet on the floor or don’t put your chair opposite the windows.

And for God’s sake, stop taking young kids to the park after midnight.  They won’t understand what to do when the bullets start flying and they can’t run as fast as you to keep up.

And don’t forget, Stranger Danger

One last point, if you are out an about and in the background of your day or afternoon, you’re constantly hearing the wail of emergency sirens, go home.  It’s the sound of a dangerous night.

RIPA’S BACK

kellyripalonghairstyleslongcenterpartj0hpcr3dow7l

This morning Kelly Ripa returned to her hit show, ‘LIVE With Kelly and Michael.’  An what an ovation she received.  And one, in my opinion, that was truly deserved.  Because, as working adults,  we all know what it’s like to be Blindsided (Jamie Alexander) at work and cheated on (Bellamy Young from Scandal) by someone at work we trusted to have our back.  And we also know what it’s like to lose someone (sang by Jackie Evancho).

Will Smith Shooting

will-smith-nfl-8a696ca1-fd26-404b-8ee6-171ec639345f

“Revenge is a dish best served cold.”  That quote is from the Star Trek movie, ‘The Wrath Of Khan.’

It took me along time to figure out what that meant.  But for Cardell Hayes, it means the difference between 1st degree murder and 2nd degree murder.

I’m sure the New Orleans Police charged Cardel Hayes with 2nd degree murder because of their outdated methodology (and they’re not the only Police Force who haven’t updated their thinking.).  Afterall, why would Mr. Hayes wait so long to take revenge and why would he take revenge on Cardell Hayes?

Envy and opportunity presented itself.

And I think the press is trying to take a neutral attitude in Will Smith’s death, but take it from someone who has been stalked a long time, Will Smith’s death was an act of revenge.

I was taken aback by the Press’ reporting that Will Smith and  Cardell Hayes were strangers.  Cardell Hayes might have been a stranger to Will Smith, but I’m sure Will Smith was not a stranger to Cardell Hayes.

Will Smith had played with the New Orleans Saints football team from 2004 to 2014.  I’m sure Cardell Hayes knew exactly who Will Smith was.

And minutes before his death, Mr. Smith had tweeted out that he was having a good time in New Orleans.  And he was having a good time with the man who had shot and killed Cardell Hayes’ father.

That stop that Mr. Hayes made in the middle of the street was a dead give away that he was planning on doing something to Mr. Smith.  And when Mr. Smith sped away, (as he was taught to do in such an event — drive to the nearest Police Station) that only aggravated Cardell Hayes the more.

Six shots in the upper torso — the first two in the back — speaks volumes.  And when the wife jumps out of the car and runs over to her husband who had just been shot, you shoot her twice in the leg.

Looks like revenge to me.

Doug Banks

To say the least, I was shocked when I heard the news of Doug Banks passing.  My first thought was. “What am I going to do now?”

Doug was that integral to my life.  I work the three pm to eleven thirty pm shift.  And everyday, I’d get into the car, turn on the radio, and tune into The Doug Banks Show for the forty-five minute drive to work.  I will miss Doug dearly.
